It walked down the stairs.
I have not had too many ghostly experiences, only a couple. And they were very simple. Not real distinct. Perhaps that is what makes me wonder even more. One happened in my late teens. My family lived in a very comfortable Long Island suburb. We purchased a property to clean up and rent out as an investment. We knew the people who had lived there from when the house was built. We were definitely not 'friends' with them, but we knew them. They always had problems. Lots of screaming and fighting all the time. The daughter was a nut and apparently had some drug problems for a while. The son was just weird and not well liked by other kids in the neighborhood.
We were glad to help them move along from the neighborhood and began cleaning up the property. The yard was sort of overgrown, and the interior had never really been kept up or updated over the years. Although not a total wreck, it was kind of dirty . I was working on it during a particularly warm and humid Long Island Summer. Not excessively uncomfortable , but quite warm. When not in the house, I was keeping all the windows closed in case of rain storms. I walked in one day to do some painting , and right off there was something odd. To go upstairs, you had to walk in the entrance, passing a guest bath, a den, and a small hallway that went to the kitchen and had doors to a coat closet and the basement. Straight ahead was the formal living room with a cathedral ceiling, the kitchen connected to the dining room , which then connected to the back of the living room, where the stairs to the second floor landed .... that is ... you had to walk to the back of the living room to go up the stairs. From the era the house was built ( a 50s development house) , it had a wrought iron rail that ran up the stairs and across the balcony.
I was only a couple of steps into the living room when I felt it ..... Have you ever been reading or studying in a quiet room .... and a brother (or somebody) sneaks up on you ... you don't actually hear them ... but you just FEEL them .... That's what it was like. I could FEEL somone , or something .... I could FEEL it walking down the stairs , around the end, and walk through me towards the front entry ! Even when I think of it I get chills and 'goose-bumps' . Some folks have wondered if it was a cold breeze. As I described, it was a hot Long Island Summer, unless you are on the water, even the breezes are usually warm .... but the windows were closed ..... and, if you have ever opened a kitchen freezer on a very hot day, you can see the cold air falling down .... if there was cool air coming through from the upstairs , it would have cascaded down from the open wrought iron railing from the balcony.... not "Walked" down the stairs , and around the end towards the entrance .... like a "person" would.
I KNOW it was ...... SOMETHING ..... I told my family , who was sort of old fashioned and religious those days. One of my older brothers went to the house the next day to read scripture and say some prayers as he walked through the house. None of us saw or experienced anything more at the house after that, However , EVERY tenant we ever had was crazy and a load of trouble. To this day I believe there was something living in that house that affected the people living there. Since our family sold the house some years later, I never kept up with anything or anyone there. But I KNOW what I felt. I KNOW there was SOMETHING there !

Hide and seek
When I was a young boy, My family lived in an Antebellum House in Louisiana. One Winter, after a snow that blanketed the grounds, My brothers, and I decided to go outside, and play hide, and seek!
There was a garage appartment that was behind our house that no one ever used... I thought it was the perfect place to hide! I walked up the snow covered stairs, And went inside! Just as you would expect, the door creaked when opend...
There was nothing inside but a stack of old newspaper's on the kitchen counter! I opened the closest door, and the hangers started to swing violently! I thought maybe it was the wind, so I looked to see if a window was open, only to find they we're all nailed shut! I started to get scared, and tried to leave the appartment! Then all of a sudden, all the newspaper's flew off the kitchen counter! Then I was really freaked out! I walked outside to go down the stairs, and felt two hands grab my waist, and push me down the stairs! I went flying down, but luckily, I was able to catch my fall at the bottom!
I never went back in there again !
